In fulfilling our promise, after the successful execution of the 2-year project titled: ‘Enhancing Diabetes Education and Care in Ogun State-WDF15- 1257’ back in 2016, Talabi Diabetes Centre (TDC), delivered a 1-day Refresher Training on Diabetes and Hypertension to fifty Ogun State Primary Healthcare workers drawn across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State who will share the knowledge gained with their colleagues for enhanced Diabetes healthcare delivery at their respective Health Centres.
Participants at the events were trained by seasoned lecturers and professionals in the medical field. Various lectures were given, addressing the areas of diabetes and the effects of proper diet and exercise.
The Centre, that is TDC, also handed over to the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission 100 glucose monitors, 12,500 glucose monitor strips and 50 blood pressure monitors for distribution among 50 Primary Healthcare Centres across the various Local Government Areas of the State. Each participant also received a training manual to futher assist them in their work on diabetes. Each chosen Health Centre received one digital blood pressure monitor, 2 blood glucose monitors, 250 blood glucose monitor strips and one training manual.
At the end of the training, each Primary Healthcare worker in attendance was awarded with a Certification of Participation by TDC.
