Milestone

In furtherance of one of its objectives- Acquisition of Up-To-Date How-To-Skills of Diabetes Prevention and Management for Persons With Diabetes, The Health Care Providers And The Community At Large, the Centre applied for and got a World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) co-funding grant to execute its project : Enhancing Diabetes Education and Care in Ogun State - this is a fall-out from its annual scheduled Update Training Programthat was started in 2012 ( for more details, Link to: Education/Up-date Courses---in Areas of Accomplishment)

School Health Clubs and Inter-School Debates
In its attempt to ‘catch them young’, especially with the alarming increase of obesity and manifestation of diabetes in Nigerian children and youths, the Centre established its School Health Club to enable it take awareness and diabetes education to the young ones. The Club was formally launched during the Centre’s 2012 WDD Lecture when participating schools’ members had a debating competition titled:“Civilization and Modern Foods - Have They Improved Human Health?”

The Vision of the Club is to educate secondary school pupils (that is Nigerian youths) about Diabetes, Hypertension and General Healthy Lifestyle Practicesand encourage them to imbibe the same with the goal of stimulating them as Agents of Change in their respective communities. This, we believe is a worthwhile investment for the future of the State and indeed the country. Though enrollment has been slow, the Centre is not daunted, it continues with its enrolment drives to schools.
