The exercise was supported by His Royal Highness, the Odemo of Isara, Oba Adebayo Onadeko and his wife, Olori Modupe a retired Matron of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.<\/p><p>Both of them addressed the community and presented themselves for screening. This was kicked off at Shagamu with an intensive free screening for diabetes and hypertension in market places. The exercise was undertaken by personnel of the Ogun State Chapter of the Diabetes Association of Nigeria and Medical students of Olabisi Onabanjo University TeachingHospital, Shagamu.\u00a0<br \/>In 2010, the Centre\u2019s Outreach efforts were enhanced with theairing of Diabetes Educational radio jingles in Yoruba (the State\u2019s local language), and the distribution of Diabetes Educational leaflets in the Local Government Areas of the State.<\/p><p>The Center\u2019s awareness activities continue periodically at markets across the State and its hamlets to sensitize and screen willing participants for Diabetes and Hypertension.\u00a0Those diagnosed with diabetes or hypertension are referred to their neighborhood nearest primary healthcare facility for immediate attention. Equally too, they are welcome at the Centre if it is convenient for them. For instance, during its 2015 Outreach activities in 6 towns \/ Communities within Remo North, Ikenne Local Government and Ijebu North Local Government Areas of the State, 205 individuals were screened for Diabetes and Hypertension.
